Composition:

Pharmacotherapeutic group:

Characteristics:

Acetylsalicylic acid in the preparation Godasal 500 tbl. suppresses moderate to medium strong pain and acts against elevated body temperature. In higher doses it exerts antiinflammatory effects. Glycine protects the gastric mucosa against possible irritation by acetylsalicylic acid.

Indications:

Godasal 500 tbl. is used in headaches, toothaches, backaches, joint and muscle aches accompanying influenzal diseases or painful menstruation. It is also suitable for the treatment of febrile conditions in influenzal diseases and as a supplement of the treatment of febrile conditions in other diseases. Without the physician's recommendation, Godasal 500 tbl. can be taken by adults and children over 14 years of age.

Contraindications:

The preparation must not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to salicylates, glycine or auxiliary substances, in gastric and duodenal ulcers, bronchial asthma, gout, pathological bleeding, serious hepatic and renal diseases, and in surgical interventions involving major bleeding. Godasal 500 tbl. must not be administered to children under 6 years of age, and it must not be taken by women in the first and third thirds of pregnancy. Godasal 500 tbl. can be administered to women in the second third of pregnancy, nursing mothers, and children from 6 to 14 years of age only when recommended by the physician.

Adverse reactions:

Godasal 500 tbl. is usually well tolerated. In the course of its administration, digestive complaints (nausea or even vomiting, abdominal pain, rarely bleeding into the digestive tract), in hypersensitive persons allergic manifestations (skin rash, asthmatic fit) may occur. In long-term administration, increased bleeding, manifested by unusual formation of bruises, may occur. Consult your physician if these undesirable effects or any other unusual reactions take place, or if the preparation is taken for a long time. In children, the so-called Rey's syndrome (vomiting, high temperature, neuropsychic disorders or even cramps) may be observed. If these undesirable effects occur in you child, discontinue the administration of the preparation and consult your physician immediately.

Interactions:

The effects of the preparation Godasal 500 tbl. and the effects of other concomitantly administered drugs can interact. Acetylsalicylic acid intensifies the effects of drugs decreasing blood clotting and some drugs employed in the treatment of diabetes. It increases the effect as well as the undesirable effects of drugs administered in rheumatic diseases and intensifies the risk of gastric and intestinal bleeding with simultaneous use of hormones of the adrenal cortex or alcohol. Concomitant administration of acetylsalicylic acid and drugs against high blood pressure and gout may result in decreased effects of these drugs.

Caution:

Preparations containing acetylsalicylic acid may be administered to children under 14 years of age only when recommended by the physician and in doses prescribed by him or her. The preparation must not be administered to women in the first and third thirds of pregnancy. Women in the second third of pregnancy and nursing mothers may take preparations containing acetylsalicylic acid also only when recommended by the physician. If fever or pain is not alleviated within 3 days of administration of acetylsalicylic acid, consult your physician about further treatment. Contact the physician if you take acetylsalicylic acid regularly for more than 7 days. Before any operation (including dental interventions) inform the physician that you take Godasal 500 tbl.

Overdosage:

Large doses of acetylsalicylic acid may cause vertigo, tinnitus, consciousness and breathing disorders. In case of an overdose or swallowing of the preparation by a child it is necessary to contact the physician immediately.

Dosage:

For short-term alleviation of pain and fever, adults and young persons over 14 years of age use 1 to 2 tablets 3 to 4 times a day. The maximal daily dose is 8 tablets. Children take Godasal 500 tbl. only when recommended by the physician. If the physician does not determine otherwise, the usual daily dose for children from 6 to 14 years of age is 1/2 to 1 tablet 2 to 3 times a day, and the interval between the individual doses is to be at least 4 hours.
