Myogit 25 contains the active ingredient diclofenac, which acts against inflammations, suppresses pain, and decreases elevated body temperature. The effect of the preparation consists in the suppression of the formation of agents contributing to the development of inflammation.
Myogit 25 is used to treat painful edemas or inflammations after injuries and surgeries, as a supplement to the treatment of some gynecological complaints (painful menstruation), and backaches. Without consulting the physician, the preparation can be taken by adults and children over 14 years of age. For physician’s prescription only, it is administered in the treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the locomotor system, such as various types of arthritides (inflammatory disease of joints), including acute fits of gout, osteoarthrosis (non-inflammatory disease of joints), Bechterew’s disease, or as a supplement to the treatment of ovaritis (inflammation of the ovaries). On the physician’s recommendation, the preparation can be administered to children from 6 to 14 years of age.
Myogit 25 must not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to diclofenac and other components of the preparation, acetylsalicylic acid, and other drugs from the group of anti-inflammatory preparations. The preparation must not be used in patients with an unclear cause of a disorder in hematopoiesis, in the acute stage of gastric and duodenal ulcers, and in patients with inflammatory intestinal diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerous colitis). Because of a danger of increased bleeding and suppression of uterine contractions, women must not use the preparation in the last three months of pregnancy. Myogit 25 must not be taken in the course of lactation. Only for particularly important reasons and on explicit recommendation of the physician, the preparation is administered in gastric and duodenal ulcers in the anamnesis, in the diseases with impaired metabolism of porphyrins, in markedly decreased liver and renal functions, in patients with high blood pressure, in cardiac insufficiency, immediately after major surgery, in patients with asthma, hay fever or swollen nasal mucosa (nasal polyps), and in the first six months of pregnancy.
Myogit 25 is usually well tolerated. Mild undesirable effects may occur particularly at the beginning of treatment as gastric and intestinal complaints (loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting), headaches, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, vertigo). Double vision, tinnitus, spastic twitches, in patients suffering from high blood pressure retention of water in the body accompanied by the development of edemas may sporadically occur. Liver and renal disorders are rare. Hypersensitivity to diclofenac is manifested by itching and skin rashes. Possible occurrence of any of these undesirable effects and other unusual reactions must be reported to the attending physician. In individuals particularly hypersensitive to diclofenac, the swelling of the tongue, edema of the larynx, breathlessness, asthmatic fit, decreased blood pressure or even shock can occur. A serious complication on long-term use is the development of gastric ulcers accompanied by stomachaches, bleeding into the digestive tract (blood vomiting, black tarry stools) and disorders in hematopoesis, manifested by high fevers or nosebleed. In any of these cases it is necessary to discontinue the treatment and immediately consult the physician.
The effects of the preparation Myogit 25 and other concomitantly administered agents can interact. In the case you take other drugs, either on medical prescription or without it, consult the suitability of concomitant administration of the preparation Myogit 25 with the physician. In case other drugs are prescribed for you, inform the physician that you take Myogit 25. Concomitant use of acetylsalicylic acid results in a decreased effect of diclofenac. Diclofenac increases the effect as well as undesirable effects of lithium, digoxin and metothrexate, increases the effects of orally administered drugs in the treatment of diabetes, increases retention of potassium in the body with concomitant use of agents increasing the flow of urine (diuretics), but it decreases the efficacy of other diuretic agents. Combined administration of diclofenac with other anti-inflammatory agents (including the hormones of the adrenal cortex) increases the risk of undesirable effects (particularly bleeding into the stomach and intestines). On concomitant use of some drugs decreasing blood coagulation (oral anticoagulants), your physician will check your blood coagulation.
In your physician did not recommend the drug to you and there is no alleviation of troubles within three days, consult you physician about further treatment. Consult your physician, if without his or her consent you take diclofenac for more than 7 days. The preparation must not be taken in the period of lactation and in the first three thirds of pregnancy. In the last third of pregnancy the preparation is used only when recommended by the physician. During the administration of the preparation Myogit 25 do not drink alcohol! In the case of an overdose or when the preparation is accidentally taken by a child, consult the physician.
Adults and children over 14 years take usually from 25 to 75 mg (1 to 3 tablets), divided into 2 to 3 single doses. The largest single dose should not exceed 25 mg (1 tablet), the largest daily dose, 75 mg (3 tablets). Only when recommended by the physician, in adults and young persons the single dose can be increased to 50 mg of diclofenac and the total daily dose up to 150 mg of diclofenac. Children over 6 years of age, when recommended by the physician, are usually administered 2 mg per 1 kg of body weight per day, (a child weighing 25 kg will receive 2 times a day 1 tablet of Myogit 25, a child weighing 37.5 kg will receive 3 times a day 1 tablet of Myogit 25). Tablets are swollen whole, unchewed (before or during meals) and washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid.
